For more than 25 years, the Deerfield Park Foundation has made contributions to support and enhance the programs and services of the Deerfield Park District. Below are some of the ways the Foundation has been involved and has made a positive impact on our community:

DPF Efforts & Support:
  • Volunteering and other support for district-wide events, including Community Services Day. Annually, since 2005, Deerfield Park Foundation has served as Entertainment Sponsor and mannied a booth for this activity.

  • Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System - financial support

  • Kiddie Pool at Mitchell Park/Pool - total commitment of $75,000 over a five year time period

  • Free Swimming at Mitchell and Deerspring Pools on July 4th - sponsored annually

  • Gazebo at Maplewood Park - financial assistance

  • Statues to beautify our parks - Flag and Eagle Statue dedicated to "all veterans of all wars," statues of children at Jewett Park

  • Scholarships for Park & Recreation Careers - the Foundation offers two scholarships of $1500 each to Deerfield Park District residents to apply toward a University/College degree in the fields of Parks, Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation and other specific closely related fields. One scholarship is designated toward graduating High School Seniors; the other scholarship is available for College Freshmen, Sophomores or Juniors.

  • "Deerfield's most accessible playground" at Deerspring Park - total commitment of $75,000 over a five year span (ongoing)

  • Grants-in-Aid (Scholarships) - typically a $15,000 commitment annually to assist those in serious financial need. Numerous individuals, businesses, foundations and corporation help in this area through "Be A Dear" of the Park Foundation campaign and through contributions made on seasonal Deerfield Park District Registration Forms.

  • Recycling Containers for Area Park/Schools - Nearly one dozen recylcling containers have been donated by the Deerfield Park Foundation and Deerfield District 109 Education Foundation for use at area park and school locations. Each container costs more than $650. Three containers were purchased with proceeds raised through the joint Earth Day Walk event. Special thanks to First Midwest Bank and the Optimist Club of Deerfield for their generous contributions. And, to Astellas Pharma, U.S., Inc. for their tremendously generous contribution of six (6) recycling cans. Others wishing to help in this effort are encouraged to call the Deerfield Park District / Deerfield Park Foundation at 847-945-0650.
